Hawk Plastics One of 3 Talladega County companies receive honors for outstanding work safety records.
TALLADEGA — Three Talladega County companies were recently presented awards for outstanding worker safety records for 2017 by the Alabama Department of Labor and Manufacture Alabama, according to a press release.
Manufacture Alabama is the state’s manufacturing trade association.
Fifty-seven plants participated in Manufacture Alabama’s Safety Achievement Awards program. Awards were presented to 28 of those facilities that operated the most hours with the fewest accidents in 2017.
Resolute Forest Products was awarded first place in Plant Group 322/Division 3 (Paper Manufacturing, 251 to 500 employees), and Hawk Plastics was awarded first place in Plant Group 326/Division 1 (Plastics & Rubber Products Manufacturing, up to 125 employees).
In addition, certificates from the Alabama Department of Labor were awarded to 29 plants that operated during 2017 with no lost-time accidents. Hawk Plastics, Merryweather Foam and Resolute Forest Products were among the recipients.
The achievement awards were presented at the Manufacture Alabama Safety/Health/HR Conference featuring instruction and presentations for industries on how to improve safety programs.
